Thursday, July 7, 1977 Funeral services for Alvin H. Zander, 65, of Bellville were held in Bellville at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 5, with Rev. O. K. Oelke officiating. Interment was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Gilbert Mewis, Ray Paine, Allan Wienecke, Monroe Wienecke, A. J. Stark and D. E. Walker. Mr. Zander passed away in the Bellville Hospital at 10:15 AM on Sunday, July, 3, 1977 having attained the age of 65 years, 9 months and 29 days. He has been in failing health for the past 15 years. Born in Bellville on September 4, 1911, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Zander. He was reared in Bellville and Houston and attended the Bellville Public School. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Bellville. Mr. Zander was employed as a receiving clerk for the Southern Compress and Warehouse Company in Houston until his retirement. Mr. Zander was married to the former Miss Lola Warden in 1938 in ceremonies performed in Houston. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola Zander of Bellville, mother, Mrs. Hulda Schiel of Houston, sisters Mrs. Viola M. Ferguson of Bellville, Mrs. H. E. Gentsch of Houston, Mrs. H. L. Love of Seguin and Mrs. Joe Loria of Houston, brother George Zander of Houston and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Edmund Zander.
