DONALD RAY “Donnie” HENSKE, 72, of New Wehdem, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
He was born November 17, 1950, in Brenham, Texas, the son of Lee Charles and Ellen Rose Bockhorn Henske. Donnie grew up in the New Wehdem community on the family farm. He started school in Kenney, before graduating from Bellville High School in 1969. After graduation, Donnie attended Blinn College in Brenham for 2 years. He was united in marriage to Janice “Jenny” Mikeska, on August 28, 1971, in New Wehdem, Texas. He then attended Sam Houston State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in business management. Donnie and Jenny lived in Bellville for a short time before moving to the New Wehdem community back on the family farm. In his spare time, he enjoyed going goose and deer hunting, picking pecans, and tending to his cattle. Donnie’s love was spending endless hours making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren, and helping with their 4-H projects. He is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years: Jenny Henske of New Wehdem; daughters: Brandi Fishbeck and her husband, Chad, and Jodie McReynolds and her husband, A.J.; all of Brenham; his grandchildren: Kerby Krueger, Callie Fishbeck, Tyler Fishbeck, Eli Fishbeck, Jacie McReynolds, and Karlie McReynolds; and numerous other family members and dear friends. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents: Lee Charles and Ellen Henske; son-in-law: Todd Krueger; father-in-law: Elden Mikeska; and brother-in-law: James Davenport.
