Lawrence J. Blazek, 87, of Sealy passed away peacefully at the Memorial Hermann Hospice with family by his side on January 20, 2017. Lawrence was born on August 9, 1929 at home in Nelsonville, TX to Ladgie and Annie Pilcik Blazek. He grew up in Nelsonville, TX, starting his career in the auto repair industry at Boriack Ford in Bellville, TX. In 1948, Lawrence enlisted in the USAF to support the Korean War effort and was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. They became the parents of one daughter, Debbie, and three sons, Larry, Michael, and Patrick.

After being discharged from the service, Lawrence and Irene settled in Bellville, eventually moving their young family to Houston, TX where he worked for various Ford dealerships for 50 years. In 1972, the family settled on their ranch outside of Frydek and Lawrence continued to commute to work in Houston. Lawrence loved working on cars, ranching, hunting, playing dominoes, and going to the casinos with his wife.

Lawrence was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Frydek KJT, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Knights, and Sealy American Legion Post 442. He was also a member of the Frydek/San Felipe Volunteer Fire Department and maintained an honorary lifetime member status.
