Funeral services for B.S. Jurek, 82, of Rosenberg, formerly of Wallis, were held 10 a.m. Monday at Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis. The Rev. Gerald Riddell of Simonton officiated, with burial at Krasna Cemetery near Wallis.

Mr. Jurek, a resident of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home, died Saturday at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1909 in Wallis to Edward and Frances Sebesta Jurek. He was reared in Fort Bend County and attended school in Krasna through the ninth grade.

He married Edna Mays on Dec. 5, 1931. He was a farmer and a member of the SPJST.

Mr. Jurek was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, in December 1980, and by a son, Delfeen, on June 11, 1970.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Mildred and Emil Kure of Needville, Edna and Alvis Schmidt of Rosenberg, and Dana Mac and John Blome of Houston; a son and his wife, Melroy and Margie Jurek of East Bernard; two sisters, Irene Horelinca and Frances Janik, both of East Bernard; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Darren Schmidt, Wayne Jurek, Melvin Horelica, Lonnie Horelica, Ronnie Kure, and Michael Kure. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Loring and Deryl Schmidt.

Services were under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home of Wallis.
