Leta A. Rigsby Savoy was born to Muton Rogers and Sadie Matthews on March 22, 1925 at their homeplace in Personville, Texas. She passed away on August 12, 2013. Her early life was spent in the Groesbeck area, a part of Texas that was her first home. She married Ernest P. Rigsby in 1941 and began her life as a wife and mother. Living in Houston she became a sales clerk, first at Sears and later at the new Foleys stores in Sharpstown and Northwest Malls. At Foleys she became a supervisor, enjoying her work in accessories and fine jewelry. Leta’s true love was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all the nieces, nephews and family friends who came under her wing. A caregiver always. In 1980, she married Weldon Leon Savoy and found a new life in Bellville, Texas. She and Leon enjoyed travel, antiques and especially those grandchildren. With Leon’s passing in 1997, she continued her life here until her health and Alzheimers sent her to Colonial Belle nursing care in 2010. With their excellent and loving care she stayed until her peaceful passing on August 12, 2013, with her children and grandchildren by her side. Leta is preceded in death by her parents, Muton and Sadie Rogers; husbands, Ernest Rigsby and Leon Savoy; daughter, Carolyn Jones; sister, Grace Perry; brothers, Weldon Rogers, Bob Rogers and Bub Rogers. She is survived by daughter, Linda Rigsby; son, Ernest Rigsby and wife, Donna, sister; Veta Maddox, brother; Bill Rogers and wife, Benita; grandchildren, Jeffry and Darren Williams, Rebecca Rigsby, Brian Rigsby and wife, Vanessa, Jade Heflin, Julie Jones, Jennifer Jones - Levassar, and husband James Levassar; great-grandchildren, Kyndal and Luke Heflin and Mason Rigsby, Cassie & AAliyh Levassar. Visitation will be at Bellville United Methodist Church, 234 S. Masonic, Bellville, Texas on August 17, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Funeral Service will be at Bellville United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on August 17, 2013 with Reverend Amy Haralson officiating. Interment at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Bellville, Texas.
