Arlie Mae Caletka Severin was born March 9, 1928, in Cat Spring the daughter of Alfred and Elty Kollatschny Caletka.

She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Cat Spring on Sept. 9, 1928, and was also confirmed there.

She graduated from Bellville High School in 1946, as the Valedictorian. She attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham from 1946-1947 and was a member of Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Society.

She married Allan Curtis Severin on June 15, 1949, at the Bellville United Methodist Church. They had one son, Warren Ray Severin.

She worked at the Bellville Independent School District for 46 years, beginning as the Superintendent’s secretary and retiring as Director of Accounting in 1994. She was a member of the Texas Education Secretaries Association and earned an Associates Professional Certificate from National Association of Education Secretaries. She also was a certified school business official and an honorary lifetime member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials.

For a number of years, she also worked part-time (after her regular work) for the Bellville Butane Company, helping with statements and reports.

After retiring, she was a sales associate at the Florsheim Shoe Store in Sealy Outlet Center for 3 years and then an office clerk for Switzer Auction Services in Bellville for over 6 years.

She was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church, Austin County Retired Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Austin County Farm Bureau, Sons of Hermann Nagel Lodge #299 of Millheim, and the Millheim Harmonie Verein Auxiliary, of which she served as the first president. She was a reporter for the lodge to the Hermann Sons News and was an honorary member of the Bellville FHA chapter. She participated in the Austin County Fair, receiving many ribbons, as well as Reserve Champion and Grand Champion awards.

She was a tireless worker at everything she did. She enjoyed accounting, gardening, canning, baking, and most of all her family. She also loved to dance. She composed the epitaph on their tombstone, which is “Toils of life and pleasures done, peaceful rest now begun”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Severin in 1999, and her parents, Elty and Alfred Caletka.

Survivors include her son, Warren Severin and his wife, Susan, of Millheim; grandchildren, Amanda Kay Severin Garvin and her husband, Jon, of Beeville and Katie Rae Severin Purser and her husband, Jon, of Bellville; step-grandchildren, Holly Monk and her husband, Tommy, of Sealy and Laura Wieprecht and her husband, Brent, of Bellville; great-grandchildren, Caden Taylor Severin, Angel Renee Purser, Grady Purser and William Purser; step-great-grandchildren, Hayden Stallings, Camden Garner, Carter Monk, Parker Monk, Anna Rose Wieprecht and Leah Wieprecht; sister-in-law, June Severin and nephew, Hurst Severin Barbee; numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014, Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, Bellville.

Funeral service, 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 , Bellville United Methodist Church, Pastor Amy Haralson, officiating

Interment, Millheim Cemetery, Millheim.
