John Alfred Maxwell, 82, of Meadowlakes, died October 16, 2010. Born March 1, 1928 in Beckley, West Virginia, John was the son of Edward and Jessie Catherine (Fisher) Maxwell.

He graduated from West Virginia University in 1950 with a BS in Geology. He served his country from 1952-1956 in the US Navy. He was a LTJG and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. John was also a graduate of South Texas College of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1970. He was an oil and gas attorney and retired from AMACO Production in Houston. John was a founding member of the Hill Country 100 Club and he also served as a municipal judge in Sunrise Beach from 1986-1998 and in Meadowlakes from 1999-2005.

John is survived by his wife, Marian Maxwell of Meadowlakes; daughter, Kathy Wilson and husband, Wesley, of Bertram; and his brother, Robert Edward Maxwell of Salem, Virginia.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hill Country 100 Club or to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
