Charles Waddel Brandes, born November 28, 1942 in Bellville, Texas, died peacefully at his home in Sealy on Monday, May 9th, 2016, following a very lengthy illness.

Preceded in death by parents, Lillie Schubert Brandes and Charles William Brandes.

Survived by his wife, Barbara, of 40 years; his children, Tracey O'Neil and husband, Jim, Mason Brandes and fiancée, Angela Leschper, Stacy Brandes and wife, Kaarin, Darren Brandes and wife, Cindy, Benn Copeland, Trey Copeland and wife, Aimee. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Mazac, Jenna, Jamie, and Mandie O'Neil, Ashley Aguilar and husband, David, Charles Mason Brandes, Jr., Leah Brandes, Sydney and Joshua Brandes, Jarrett and Grayson Brandes, Hunter and Kaden Thielemann, Claire, Grace, and Ethan Copeland, Eva Copeland; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn, Liliana, and Madison Aguilar.

Waddel attended Peters Hacienda Elementary School in the Peters Community, graduated from Sealy High School and then Blinn College. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and First United Methodist Church in Sealy where he held numerous offices and served on its Board and Methodist Men's Club. He served on the Board of Directors for the Austin County Water Supply Corporation and was active in Woodman Life and Sons of Herman.

Waddel loved dancing with his loving wife, Barbara, along with all the many friendships they cherish as members of the Sealy Dance Club. His careers included cattle artificial insemination, insurance sales, Bell Telephone Company, construction, bar/dance hall owner, oil & gas exploration and production, ACSI Fiber Optics, land development, real estate, and ranching.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Friday, May 13th, from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Chapel, 1140 Meyer St. in Sealy, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 14th, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Atchison St. in Sealy, Texas. Rev. Curtis Matthys will officiate. Burial will follow in Sealy Cemetery.
