Etta Mae (Wiktorik) Himly peacefully passed away on April 28, 2023 at the age of 89 in Schulenburg, TX. She was born May 18, 1933 in Welcome, TX to parents Joe and Clara (Pheffer) Wiktorik.

At the age of 4, she and her family moved to the small farming community of Iowa Colony in Brazoria County, TX. She graduated from Missouri City High School in Missouri City, TX in 1951 as class Valedictorian. Years later, she attended Career College of Business in Houston, Texas. She worked in the banking industry for many years.

She raised 3 sons, 1 niece, and 2 nephews while living in Bellville, TX with her husband. She married Eugene Himly on July 16, 1967. They were married for 44 years. They lived in Sealy, TX where they were active members of the First United Methodist Church. She served on various committees over the years and enjoyed working the Annual Rummage and Bake Sale and delivering meals to those who could not leave their homes. She was always willing to bake a cake for anyone in need. Together, they enjoyed traveling to many states including Hawaii and Alaska. Their favorite activity was sightseeing and riding snowmobiles in Yellowstone National Park. She loved her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Etta Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene Himly; 2 brothers, Otto Wiktorik and Joe Wiktorik Jr.; and a grandson, Michael Wayne (Wendt) Baucum.

She is survived by her sister, Rosie Neumann of Bellville; 3 sons and their wives, Harold Neil Wendt Jr. and Kimberli of Schulenburg, Bruce Douglas Wendt and Molly of San Marcos, and Ricki Lane Wendt and Jackie of Houston; 6 grandchildren Destiny Jones, Tristan Wendt, Whitney Wendt-Stewart, Callie Richmond, Brandi Wendt, and Ricki Wendt, Jr.; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, between 9-10 am at Sealy United Methodist Church. Her celebration of life will begin at 10 am, followed by internment at the Sealy City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Church of Sealy or to the charity of one's choice.
