Enlisted March 22, 1862 at Industry (recruited by Bader) and mustered in on April 4, 1862 at Houston (under Drake).~From April to Aug. 1863, he was at the Texas General Hospital at Quitman, MS. He recovered. [NOTE]: John and Matthes were brothers.~He was with his company in February 1864. (d. 12 March 1912 Serbin).
